END GOAL: This is the first step in becoming eventually allow me to apply to become a Certified Floral Designer with the American Institute of Floral Design.

Designing My Dreams!

I am currently studying to become a Certified Floral Designer with the Great Lakes Flower Association.

The exam will take place on October 12, 2025.

I will need to make 5 designs and pass an online test.

The evaluation to become a Certified Florist consists of:

5 designs: 2.5 hours

  • 2 duplicate arrangements

  • 1 vase arrangement

  • 1 pin-on corsage

  • 1 wrist corsage

  • 1 wedding bouquet

Written test: 2 hours

  • 30 product IDs

  • 100 multiple-choice questions

  2. Supplemental Education: Certified Floral Designer Classes (AIFD) 

    • Book: AFID Guide to Floral Design: $130 Paid

    • Online Education: July 22, 2025 – August 4, 2025

      1. Online Course: Elements and Principles of Design: $99

      2. Online Course: Design Techniques & Applications: $99

  3. In-Person Workshops: Introduction to Floral Design: $1,500

    Aug 4-Aug 8 All-Day

    (will not be taking unless scholarship offered)

  4. In-Person Workshops: Intermediate Floral Design: $1,500

    Aug 11-Aug 14 All-Day

    (will not be taking unless scholarship offered)

  5. In-Person Workshop: Steps to Certification Class: $199

    Oct 8, 2025 All-Day

    “Students will spend part of the day reviewing the written test and then work in the design room, learning what is needed to pass the exam.”

  6. Certification Bundle Testing (online & in-person): $200 Paid

    “pass each section with a score of 80% or better you become a Certified Florist!”
